Visit beautiful Verona, the “birth place” of Romeo and Juliet and the city where their love finished tragically. This lovely and vibrant city is a perfect excursion from Milan as well as from Venice. Verona can be considered the second city in Italy, after Rome, for the presence of well-preserved Roman archeological sites and many of these have been incorporated in more recent construction which you will see today.
See the symbol of Verona - the Arena in Piazza Brà, one of the largest and best preserved Roman amphitheaters in Italy built in the 1st century DC. Walk along the Liston and pay a visit to Juliet’s house where you can leave your own love letter. Visit the market place in the Piazza Erbe to admire the beautiful palaces that surround the square.
Walk across the river to visit the Roman theater from the 1st century BC and the archeological museum. The Castle of San Piero is high above on the hill and although the inside is closed to the public the views of Verona from here are magnificent.
The walk along the river Adige is very enjoyable - from here you can see a Roman bridge. When you are hungry - there are also several nice eateries along the way.
At the end of your day the driver will bring you back to your accommodation in Milan. less >>
