Via Padua
For those of you who like places that are “off-the-beaten-track” of mass tourism, Padua is a recommended stop to make during your transfer between Venice and Milan (or viceversa). Padua is still a city relatively tourist free, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty to do and see in this lovely city. See the beautiful Scrovegni Chapel which was erected in the 13th century, the Basilica of St. Anthony, Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta, and much more ...
Via Verona
Make the most of your travelling time and visit the town of Verona when transferring between Venice and Milan (or viceversa). See the Roman theater, the Stone Bridge, the Gavi Arch which is famous because it has the name of the architect carved upon it – “Lucius Vitruvius Cordone”, a very rare case for architecture of that period. Nearby you can admire the Borsari Gate, an archway at the end of the Corso Porta Borsari. This gate is set in the 3rd century AD Roman walls and is on the ancient Roman “Sacred Way”. Make sure you make a stop to see the Porta Leoni, the 1st century BC ruin of part of the Roman city gate. Verona also abounds with medieval architecture. Stop in the Piazza Bra, one of the largest squares in Europe, to admire the numerous palaces once belonging to Verona’s Noble families ...
